The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the following vaccines for preteens at age 11-12 years:

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Amendments to Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 392.105 and 394.250 were adopted by the State Board of Health on September 9th, 2016 and affirmed by the Nevada Secretary of State’s office on November 2nd, 2016. As a result, students entering grade (7) in a Nevada public school after June 30th, 2017 and all Nevada college freshman must show proof of an immunization against Neisseria Meningitidis (meningitis) in the form of a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4). The child must have at least one dose of MCV4 on or after age 10 years.

This new requirement is in additionto the already required tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis vaccine (Tdap) which protects against those conditions, most notably whooping cough. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the following vaccines for preteens at age 11-12 years:

  • Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
  • Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4)
  • Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis vaccine (Tdap)
  • Influenza (seasonal)
