> Rainbow Dreams Academy Parent Involvement Policy

This policy has been jointly developed and agreed upon by the Rainbow Dreams Academy Charter School and parent of students served in the school pursuant to Title I.

Rainbow Dreams Academy Charter School will convene an annual meeting at a convenient time for parents to evaluate this policy. This meeting will be held March, 2016. The school’s parent involvement policy, developed by Rainbow Dreams Academy in partnership with our parents, will be distributed in an understandable and uniform format and to the extent practicable, in language parents can understand. The parents involvement policy will also be made available to the community.

Rainbow Dreams Academy involves parents in an organized and ongoing way in the planning, review, and improvement of our Title I program through our quarterly meetings. Our Family Literacy and our Parent School Nights are held periodically throughout the school year with a focus on curriculum standards, grade level expectations, remediation and enrichment activities, School Performance Framework, and the Nevada Growth Model.

The Educational Involvement Accords are integrated into the registration process through Infinite Campus. Parents must review these accords prior to completing their child’s registration. Administrators and teachers will have access to the Accords whenever needed for parent/student/teacher conferences or other occasions.

Administration and staff will provide assistance to parents, as appropriate, in understanding such topics as the state’s academic content and achievement standards, state and local assessments, the requirements of Title I, how to monitor their student’s academic progress, and how to work with school staff to improve the achievement of the student.

Rainbow Dreams Academy embraces a model of school, family, and community partnership designed to foster and sustain high academic achievement and good citizenship practices. The Academy provides opportunities for families to be involved in the school and in the education of their children by:

  • Facilitating a yearly orientation for all parents which outlines the mission/goals of the school, academic expectations, behavioral expectations, attendance expectations, and other key elements. Each parent is given a Parent/Student Handbook to ensure ensure and maintain good effective communication.
  • Each Rainbow Dreams Academy parent signs the Nevada Department of Education Educational Involvement Accord which stresses the importance of parental involvement in their child’s education.
  • Family Literacy and Parent School Nights are held throughout the year with a focus on curriculum standards, grade level expectations, remediation and enrichment activities, School Performance Framework, and the Nevada Growth Model.
  • Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled at the conclusion of each trimester to review academic progress.
  • The Rainbow Connection Parent Newsletter is distributed to reinforce the mission and goals of the school and to inform parents and the school community of student/school activities.

Rainbow Dreams Academy…

The administration will, with the assistance of parents, educate teachers, pupil service personnel, principals, and other staff in:

  • Shall provide assistance to parents of children served by Rainbow Dreams Academy
  • Provide training and materials to help parents work with their child to improve individual achievement, such as Literacy and Math Night to foster parental involvement.
  • The value and utility of contributions of parents and how to communicate and work with parents as equal partners, implement and coordinate parent programs, and build ties between parents and the school.
  • Parent and Guardian University will be implemented with best practices.

Ensure that all information related to school and parent programs, meetings, and other activities is sent to parents in a format and, to the extent practicable, in a language the parents can understand. Providing parents and students access to Stride Academy, Infinite Campus, DOJO, and Remind 101.
The administrator will, to the extent feasible and appropriate, coordinate and integrate parent involvement programs and activities with Dream Care and conduct other activities such as a parent resource center that encourage and support parents in more fully participating in the education of their children. Are your students up to date?Kids won't want to hear this - but the start of a new school year is less than a month away. The Southern Nevada Health District is urging people to beat the #backtoschool rush by bringing kids in for vaccinations as early as possible. The first day of school for students in the Clark County School District is August 13. For information, contact the Health District’s immunization clinic, (702) 759-0850 or visit bit.ly/2O2nfYr.

Parents getting vaccinations for children at a Health District clinic should bring immunization records. Parents who cannot locate their children’s immunization records should contact their health care provider. The Health District accepts most insurance plans but not all immunizations are covered by insurance. Contact the Health District’s immunization clinic for information and current fee schedule.

The Health District is offering back-to-school immunizations at its following locations:

• Main Public Health Center, 280 S. Decatur Blvd. Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.

Rainbow Dreams Academy would like to extend Congratulations to our first ever Community Organization of the Year, the 100 Black Men Of Las Vegas, Inc. on being named "Small Chapter of the Year" for the National Organization of the 100 Black Men of America!Incredible two days for our mentees and our chapter. I had the honor of accepting the 100 Black Men of America's "Small Chapter of the Year" award with mentees and members!
Our mentees met our national leadership, Civil Rights Icon Rev. Dr. C.T. Vivian and one mentee even got a picture with Emanuel "Webster" Lewis when we were in the elevator! Too much to cover on FB but we are honored to receive this incredible award and our mentees are having a great time! Many thanks to our members, our mentees and their families, our sponsors and community partners! This award is shared with each and every one of you!
